Doncaster Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)

The Doncaster child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) provides assessment, interventions and support to children, young people and their families who are suffering from significant mental health or behavioural problems.

Referrals to CAMHS can be made through your GP. 

Open Minds Counselling Doncaster

Talking Shop is a new and innovative venture that will make psychological therapy accessible and available to the community. You can drop into the new town centre shop and access the following services:

  • Specialist books and leaflets on how to manage mental health problems and emotional distress
  • Information on what services are available in the community
  • Appointment-led clinics for service users
  • Free use of computers with internet access to computerised psychotherapy and information sites
  • Informal advice in person from a mental health worker

Talking Shop Doncaster

Work to prevent exclusion from therapeutic services by prioritising accessibility and client-centredness in their services.

By providing one to one and group counselling,  and personal development training and volunteering opportunities to adults and children aged 8 and over who would otherwise be excluded from such services.

Adult Community Mental Health Service Doncaster Access Team

We provide an initial assessment of all specialist mental health referrals to identify individual need and the most appropriate service to meet that need.

The team also incorporates the crisis resolution and home treatment functions.

The team consists of community psychiatric nurses, social workers, approved mental health professionals, assessment officers, consultant psychiatrists and psychological therapists.

Doncaster Family Hubs

Doncaster Family Hubs are designed to bring services together to work with families from conception, through childhood and into adolescents (0 to 18 yrs and 25yrs SEND) to deliver an integrated local offer.

What are Family Hubs in Doncaster?

Doncaster family hubs are the 鈥榩lace to go鈥. We work with other providers to offer a range of activities, services and information for you and your family.

Families are welcome with children of all ages from conception, through childhood to adolescence and even older if your child has a special need.

Think of any service you may need from daycare and early learning to schools and education; from midwives to health visitors and mental health; from advice on parenting to family support and adult learning to employment opportunities.

Rethink Advice And Information Service

The Rethink Mental Illness Advice Service offers practical help on issues such as the Mental Health Act, community care, welfare benefits, debt, criminal justice and carers rights. They also offer general help on living with mental illness, medication, care and treatment.

The line is open from 9:30am 鈥 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Doncaster Mind provides a range of services and support to people experiencing, or vulnerable to mental ill health.

Bereavement and Loss


Cruse Bereavement Care is the leading national charity for bereaved people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We offer support, advice and information to children, young people and adults when someone dies and work to enhance society鈥檚 care of bereaved people.

Cruse offers face-to-face, telephone, email and website support. We have a Freephone national helpline and local services, and a website () specifically for children and young people. Our services are provided by our network of 5,000 trained volunteers and are confidential and free. Cruse also provides training and consultancy for external organisations and for those who may encounter bereaved people in the course of their work.


Advice and support to help you get through the loss of someone important to you. A bereavement counsellor explains what bereavement is, how to cope, and where to go for help and support.
